Family activities to do in Málaga.

We’ve alI been stuck for ideas of what to do at weekends or during the school holidays, well relax I’m hereto help. Here are ten ideas of places visit or activities to keep us entertained in Malaga.

1. Visit the mariposario in Benalmádena.

Submerge yourselves in a tropical garden in the middle of the Costa del Sol and let hundreds of colourful butterflies flutter over you. Don´t miss our post on our visit to the Mariposario de Benalmádena.


2. Chocolate workshop with Mayan Monkey (Mijas Pueblo).

Make your own choclate bars, truffles and other sweet surprises in the happiness laboratory. Check out our visit to Mayan Monkey Mijas


3. Cheese making workshop at Pastor del Valle in Alhaurín el Grande

This time we´re off to the cheese factory El Pastor del Valle in Alhaurín el Grande to make our very own fresh goat´s milk cheese! We even got to see the next generation of goats that will produce the milk for the cheeses. All the info from our visit in the post.


4. Rural escape to Benaojan

Disconnect in the beautiful countryside in Cedro Alto, a rural accommadation with spectacular views of the Ronda mountains. Plenty of hiking in the area and you can visit the Cueva del Gato (the cat’s cave, a huge cave system).


5. Visit the Museo de la Imaginación en Málaga.

Prepare your mind, and your camera, and awken your imagination at el Museo de la Imaginación de Málaga.


6. Visit Lobo Park in Antequera.

7. Visit El Bioparc de Fuengirola.

For the first time in my life I won a raffle on Instagram for annual passes to BioParc de Fuengirola. It quickly became one of Africa´s favourites. In school holiday´s they often have workshops.


8. Paseo por Muelle Uno y el Parque Urbano de Málaga.

Stroll through the Parque Urbano de Málaga and when you get hungry head to Muelle Uno, a pleasent pedestrianised areas to relax with kids.


9. Visita al jardín Botánico de la Concepción.

This botanical garden(Jardín Botánico de la Concepción) is tucked away to the north of the city and is often overlooked. As spring approaches, its a great place to visit.


10. Enjoy a day on the beach at la playa en Carvajal.

If the weather holds out, this is great place to visit. La playa de Carvajal is one of Fuengirola´s quieter beaches with plenty of space to play. It also has a few great chiringuitos (beach bars) such as El Kalifato and La Cubana. If you want to round the day off with a copa or café, then head up to the Gecko Beach Bar and enjoy the views of the bay.


11. Fly at 100km on the longest double zipwire inAndalucía.

Let the adrenaline flow and fly into the void on this super zipwire. Sunview Park near Alhaurín de la torre offers this great activity and a great terrace bar to relax afterwards. Read more about it in our post here.


12. Relax in Parque de la Paloma.

This park is like an oasis in the middle of Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmádena. With it green areas, gardens, playgrounds and bars it offers a great place to chill out. Kids will love feeding the birds and exploring the Cactus garden.


13. Torcal de Antequera.

One of the most incredible Karst landscapes to be found in Europe. There are hiking routes for everyone from the 1.5km green route to much more involved hikes of over 10km. Early morning or evening are the best times to visit in summer.


14. Stupa Budista de la Iluminación.

Transport yourself to Tibet in Benalmádena Pueblo. This temple offers an insight into Buddhist stupas and some of the best views in Málaga.


15. Explore the cliffs of Maro on SUP.

Beautiful route along the coast from Burriana beach in Nerja to the waterfall that tumbles direclty into the sea over the cliffs near Maro. Plenty of companies offering SUP and kayak hire for example EducareAventura.


16. Noches en el Museo Automovilístico y de la Moda.

Incredible collection of cars and fashion displayed in the old tabaco factory in Málaga. Late night visits on offer in summer. Check out our post for more info.

18. Escape in Camper van in Málaga.

Explore the interior, the mountains or coast of Málaga at you own pace. Southcamper offer van hire from 75€/day


19. Summer nights at Autocine de Málaga.

A classic American experience right here in Málaga. Autocines Metrovacesa have showing throughout the week and also organise concerts and festivals at the site.

20. Escapada a Tarifa.

OK not excactly in Málaga, but 1h45min drive away gets you to Tarifa and it´s amazing Atlantic coast beaches. Enjoy the historic old town and it´s great nightlife. Also nearby in Bolonia you can find giant sand dunes and an ancient Roman city. Read more about Baelo Claudia.
